A Roswell man arrested Wednesday morning in a suspicious death was the victim’s boyfriend, police said Friday.

Malik Anwar Grant, 23, was in a relationship with Robin Gilyard, 20, before Gilyard was found dead Tuesday in the apartment they shared on Jasmine Parkway.

Officers responding to a 911 call about 4 p.m. found “blood and other suspicious items in the apartment,” Roswell police spokesman Lt. Noah Caplan said. The manner in which Gilyard’s body was found classified the case as a suspicious death.

The motive behind the woman’s slaying is unknown, “other than the fact that it was domestic related,” Caplan told AJC.com.

Grant was arrested after officers tracked him to a motel in Roswell. He was initially wanted on a charge of concealing a death before police tacked on a charge of murder.

He is being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond after waiving his first appearance hearing Thursday morning.

Grant is next scheduled to appear in court Dec. 5.
