A Jonesboro man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at an off-duty officer on I-85 in Coweta County, authorities said.

Deion Laquon Colliers, 21, allegedly flashed his dashboard lights on the off-duty East Point officer Saturday night, said Lt. John Kennedy of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

The officer was en route to work when a car driven by Colliers pulled up behind him and activated the flashing lights, Kennedy said.

The officer pulled to the right, and Colliers’ car passed. The officer then called 911 and began following Colliers’ car, Kennedy said.

Realizing he was being followed, Colliers pointed a handgun out of his window at the officer’s car, Kennedy said. At the bottom of the ramp on Exit 56, Colliers allegedly pulled over and approached the off-duty officer’s car with his gun drawn.

The officer then left his car with his weapon drawn and ordered Colliers to lower his weapon, Kennedy said. When Coweta deputies arrived, they secured Colliers’ gun and arrested him, Kennedy said.

Colliers is charged with impersonating an officer and aggravated assault with a firearm.
