A couple passed out in their vehicle at the drive-through speaker of a Florida Keys-area McDonald’s on Tuesday night immediately after giving their order, then became combative when deputies arrived, police said.
Kevin Yonson, 28, of South Carolina was driving the vehicle with a woman in the passenger's seat Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. when they pulled up to place an order, according to FlKeysNews.com. After giving the order, the McDonald's employee never saw them come to the window to pay, then found the couple asleep in their vehicle next to the speaker.
Deputies said they arrived at the scene and found the woman "asleep, mouth open, with drool coming down her face." They attempted to wake her, but she "continued to sit with her eyes closed" until finally waking up and looking at the deputy "as if she had no idea where she was," deputies said.
She woke Yonson up, who declined to perform a field sobriety test once out of the vehicle and became "combative and was yelling." Deputies said at one point, Yonson was being taken to the cruiser and "lost his balance and stated (the deputy) pushed him over."
Deputies added that Yonson didn’t have a driver’s license and initially told them his last name was Johnson before finally admitting his true identity. FlKeysNews.com reported that Yonson is a registered sex offender in West Virginia and hadn’t registered in Monroe County yet, as required by law.
The woman was taken to her hotel while Yonson was arrested and charged with felony driving under the influence, failing to register as a sex offender, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license, battery on a law officer, and giving false information to a police officer.
