A woman’s body was found in Lake Lanier in south Hall County by a fisherman Friday, authorities said.

Her body was discovered around noon near the shore just off Lanier Islands Parkway, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. She was identified Monday morning as 30-year-old Shannon Sancho by sheriff’s office spokesman Derrick Booth.

There’s a small parking lot near where she was found, and Sancho’s vehicle was still in that parking lot, the release said.

The sheriff’s office, Hall County Fire Services, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps responded to the scene, the release said. Her body was sent to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

An investigation into the death by the sheriff’s office is ongoing.
