National media watched closely Thursday night as every Atlantan from either end of Interstate 85 reeled from the calamitous I-85 bridge collapse.

Around 7 p.m. Thursday, emergency crews were battling a massive fire on I-85 northbound just south of Ga. 400 when a section of the highway collapsed, officials said.

National media outlets brought the new to their audiences via live feeds from Atlanta throughout the night of fire officials extinguishing, which burnedfor man than an hour.

Though the fire cleared, there was continued efforts to clear thoroughfares near and around Interstate 85.

National media reacted swiftly sharing the news with audiences in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Nashville, Tennessee, and more.
