Q: Where can I find large curd pot cheese, either loose or packaged? — David B. Soll, email
A: For those unfamiliar with pot cheese, it sits pretty much between cottage cheese and farmer’s cheese on the curd cheese spectrum. A little dryer than the former, and slightly creamier than the latter. You can purchase pot cheese for $4.89 a pound at Buford Highway Farmers Market, 5600 Buford Highway, Doraville, 770-455-0770. You’ll find it in the front dairy cabinet between Eastern European aisles 20 and 21.
Q: I have used BFI powder for about 40 years for cuts, scratches, scrapes and blisters. It worked far better than creams or lotions. I bought it in pharmacies and chain drugstores, and it was very inexpensive. The last time I bought BFI, it was in a small cardboard cylinder, and the cost had gone up to about $10. In May I had none left and none of the drugstores had it. I tried to get it on eBay and it’s available for about $30 or $40 up to astronomical prices. Can you help ? Thank you very much. — R. Reynolds-Cornell
A: While eBay has BFI antiseptic first aid powder at pretty high prices, it has nothing on Amazon, which is selling 1.25-ounce cans of BFI for a whopping $75.50. However, you can get it locally for a fraction of the price. Visit Little Five Points Pharmacy, 484 Moreland Ave., Atlanta, 404-524-4466, and you’ll find BFI for $11.89. You might want to buy a couple since it seems that this antiseptic, which contains boric acid, is getting more difficult to find.
Q: I am trying to find a package of multi-colored lights for a ceramic Christmas tree. I’m sending a sample picture. Thanks. — Betty Coffel, Snellville
A: Betty, I found several different types of plastic lights that mimic the look of real Christmas lights like those in your photo. These have stems that fit into the holes in your ceramic tree, and the light inside the tree then illuminates the plastic bulbs. While many of the light tips look similar, the stems seem to come in different lengths and widths. Check out www.ceramicdecorandmore.com, and you’ll find several different types. It looks as if the small twists might be the ones that match yours. You can get a bag of 100 for $3.85.
Q: Where can I buy a product called PB2 with chocolate? It’s a powdered peanut butter that you mix with water. I want to use it in my morning milkshake. I haven’t seen it anywhere, and I’m not interested in ordering things online. Thank you. — Andy Clark, Atlanta
A: PB2 comes in several flavors, including plain and chocolate, and hails from Tifton, Georgia. It boasts 85 percent fewer fat calories than regular peanut butter. PB2 is made with roasted peanuts, sugar and salt. You’ll find 6.5-ounce jars for $4.99 on the top shelf where the traditional peanut butter is stocked at Target, 2400 N. Druid Hills Road, Atlanta, 404-267-0060.
