Sarah Ray and her husband, Paul, had no idea their wedding Saturday would be remembered for more than their union and exchange of vows.
But now, people are praising Sarah for an incident that was captured in a powerful photo.
Minutes after the Rays' wedding ceremony, the bride received a call alerting her that her grandparents and father had gotten into a car crash just two miles from the reception. The family said a driver ran a red light and slammed into the family's vehicle.
"My family comes in from out of town and this had to happen," Ray said. "I was scared on the way there."
Sarah and Paul are paramedics who met on the job five years ago. When they got the call, they knew they had no choice but to act.
"Anybody in the EMS field would've done the same thing," Ray told WTVF. "I don't know if what I did was special, but I was in a wedding dress."
Marcy Martin, Sarah's mother, had been snapping photos all night long. She didn't stop once the newlyweds were on the scene with their family.
In a now viral photo, Martin captured Sarah walking away from the scene of the accident in her wedding dress.
"I love this photo because it shows her true character and accentuates her beauty," Martin said.
For Sarah, attending to her family in that moment was second nature. She said there was no other option but to attend to the victims, especially since it involved family.
"I went in and checked on (my grandmother) to see how she was doing and she was upset that she had ruined my day, and I told her that it wasn't her fault," said Sarah.
