The following Ash Wednesday services will take place on Feb. 14.

Lutheran Church of the Redeemer: The imposition of ashes will be available at noon and 7 p.m. Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 731 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, 404-874-8664, redeemer.org.

Covenant Presbyterian Church: Begin the Lenten with a casual supper followed by a solemn Ash Wednesday worship service. The cost for the Ash Wednesday soup and salad supper will be $3, and attendees must reserve their meals in advance by calling the church. Anniversary celebration: Cosmopolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church will celebrate its 149th anniversary with guest preacher the Rev. Jeremiah A. Cultural concert: The concert, Sankofa: A Salute to the Music of Black Composers, will showcase artful songs and spiritual arrangements of opera singers from the Atlanta Opera Chorus and Capital City Opera as well as music educators. The event will be a celebration of voice and heritage with a reception to follow. The performance will be based on one guiding principle — sankofa, which is a Ghanaian Twi word that translates to "we have to go back to get something in order to go forward."
