That’s the size of four to five miniature dachshunds. Dennis is a miniature dachshund, though there was nothing tiny about his 2013 photo.

Dennis could only walk a few feet before being out of breath. He was also depressed.

Brooke Burton, 26, rescued the dog from a relative, who had been feeding the dog human food like burgers and pizza.

Dennis was put on a strict diet with plenty of walks.

The weight began to fall off, so much so that Dennis began to trip over the excess skin folds. The dog has undergone three surgeries to remove the extra skin.

Dennis is now a happy and healthy 12-pound dog. Burton says the dog’s bossy and demanding personality has emerged now that he’s feeling well after losing more than 75 percent of his body weight.
