It’s almost impossible to believe there is a tent out there on the market that can be put up in less than a minute, but it’s true. And it’s so unbelievably easy compared to the usual set-up process of finding poles, organizing them, sliding them through the sides of the tent, and typically acquiring a few splinters along the way.
The poles on CORE’s 11-by-9 foot 6-person instant cabin tent come attached to the tent. To set it up, the tent needs to be unfolded, the poles bent outward, and then extended upward and snapped into place. While the website claims this whole process takes a minute, it took me a bit longer because apparently my mom strength is not where it could be. (Note: Bring weights for weight training on next camping trip). However, the extension and snapping process was entirely doable; it just took me two attempts on three of the four poles.
In addition to the instant set-up capability, this tent, available for $169.99 through coreequipment.com, has so many lovely features it’s almost ridiculous. This includes a gear loft with lantern hook and a large wall organizer pocket, both that are easy to hook up. The lower panels on the sides of the tent also can be pulled outward and staked into the ground to create increased air access and cooling. Finally, an electrical cord access port through the left front side of the tent allows a cord to be snaked into the tent.
There also are windows on the sides, and one on the front for ventilation. The window on the front door panel can be additionally opened for increased air ventilation, and the top is open as a window to the sky. As far as space, the tent can hold two queen-size air mattresses, and is 72-inches in height at the center. CORE’s 6-person instant cabin tent also comes with a rain fly, tent stakes, carry bag, and one-year limited warranty.
