There are lots of stories about religious symbols being banned from public holiday displays. But this is a story about a church that is basically banning Santa.

The Born Again Independent Baptist Church has posted this Christmas message on their outside sign: "Santa is Satan." (Source: WJBF.com)

Neighbors who live near the church say the sign is par for the course for the Rev. Edward Carothers. Carothers did not respond to requests for comment, according to the report.

The message is not shared by all churches in the town. Carrel Davis, a youth director at a Methodist Church, said he’s fine with Santa Claus.

"You're not going to find scripture in the Bible saying that (it) is a sin to believe. I don't think it does harm to kids. Tell kids what Santa does; he is a giver," Davis said.
