Leave it to those smarty-pants at Georgia Public Broadcasting. No longer satisfied just with being experts on history and science and who sits where in the Downton Abbey dining room now they've gone and figured out the very best places all over the state for sparking your romantic mojo.

The eight locales — some well-known, others not so much — will be the focus of a pre-Valentine's Day special premiering at 8 p.m. Thursday on GPB. "Georgia's Most Romantic Places" follows couples in luck (and, maybe, in love ) enough to be visiting each destination. There'll also be a live tweet-up during the broadcast on @mygpb where participants in the special will "share their romantic vacationing tips," GPB says (Hey, they're really into learning over there).

In no particular order, here are the lovey-dovey places that the show will cover. Pay attention, there will be a quiz afterwards. No, that is not a joke:

Sapelo Birdhouses, Sapelo Island; The Tree House Atlanta; Smithgall Woods State Park, Helen; The Paxton, Thomasville; Barnsley Resort, Adairsville; Twelve Oaks, Covington; The Gastonian, Savannah and The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee in Greensboro.

At the special's conclusion, you can head on over to gpb.org/romantic places where a contest will be going on to send one winner each to six of these romantic places (The Tree House and the Ritz-Carlton aren't participating). The contest consists of six questions; answer at least one correctly and you'll be entered into a drawing to win a stay at one of the profiled destinations.

The deadline for entering the contest is 12 noon on February 15th. One other thing: GPB says that the contest questions are “very specific to the special,” so you’ll have to pay attention while watching, and not just count on being able to do some random Googling for the answers afterwards.

Hey, no one ever said romance was easy.
