My wife and I dined at South Main Kitchen in Alpharetta and had an amazing dinner. What really stood out was the Brussels sprouts appetizer with something called "comeback sauce." Well, we sure will comeback for this! In the meantime, can you get them to share the recipe? — Tom Wilder, Roswell
South Main Kitchen in Alpharetta is fairly new, and one of their "starters" is sautéed Brussels sprouts, and they're to die for! Could you get the recipe? — Liz Mynatt, Marietta
It’s not often that we’re able to fulfill recipe requests sent almost four years apart, but the folks at South Main Kitchen made it happen. When the restaurant first opened, they were reluctant to share their secrets, but now they know their loyal customers will appreciate the recipe and indeed, as reader Tom Wilder says, “comeback” for more.
Comeback Sauce
Comeback Sauce is a Southern classic, similar to remoulade but made with pantry staples. If you have any extra, use it as a dip for roasted vegetables or as a sandwich spread. We even know folks who substitute it for barbecue sauce. Don’t try to cut corners and skip the chili sauce. It just won’t be comeback sauce without it.
Lunchbox Peppers
These sweet little pepper rings will remind you of bread and butter pickles. If that’s a flavor you like, you’ll want to make lots and lots of these for spring and summer munching. We’ve cut the recipe down to a quarter the size they make at South Main Kitchen.
