How long she's kept it off: "When I began my weight loss journey in May 2009, I weighed 293 pounds, I was unhappy with the way I looked and I wanted to regain control of my life," she says. "I am looking to lose about 25 to 30 more pounds."
Personal life: "I am a senior administrative representative," she says. "I live in southwest Atlanta with my three beautiful children: Raven, Dorian, and Devin."
Turning point: "I was unhappy. Family members, friends, and others would make hurtful comments like 'you've gotten so big' I secretly cried to myself," she says. "I had reached a point in my life that I had let everyone's perception kill my vibrant spirit and self-esteem. Instead of a pity-party I decided to change my lifestyle. I joined the local gym. I prayed and worked hard."
Diet plan: "I make healthier choices in my food selection," she says. "I eat more fruits and veggies. I eat home cooked meals daily because I know the amount of seasoning being added. I mostly eat grilled, baked and broiled foods. I eat salad five days a week."
Exercise routine: "I used to hate exercising and the summer time because of the heat and sweat. Now, I cannot live without exercising at least five days a week," she says. "Three days a week I work out for two and a half hours I love Zumba. The other days I work out for about two hours. I walk, run and even jog on the treadmill."
Biggest challenge: "My biggest challenge was trying to stay active, motivated, and learning to encourage myself," she says. "I pray everyday for strength to continue this journey. I know I could not have done this without help from God. This is truly a lifestyle."
How life has changed: "I have learned to love myself for me -- the imperfections and the differences. I have become more in tune with the authentic me, the real me," she says. I am learning to deal with my feelings without overeating. I never thought I would be telling my story of this journey."
