“Teachers, the Musical” will be playing Sept. 17-20 at The Art Place-Mt. View Theater in Marietta.
The comedic look at “what really happens in the teacher’s break room” was written, acted and produced by local teachers have over 60 years combined teaching experience.
A portion of the proceeds will go to help a former student, Ellie Karlsen , who suffers from neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that disturbs cell growth in the nervous system and causes tumors to form on nerve tissue. Neurofibromas usually forms on or just underneath the skin, as well as in the brain and peripheral nervous system. But they can also develop in other parts of the body, such as the eye.
The musical was written by Karlsen’s third-grade teacher Robin Seidman Pullen, who has always been inspired by Ellie’s persistence and drive to achieve her goals.
“Like the new teacher in the play, Ellie is going to make a difference,” Pullen said.
