Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A is reportedly eyeing land at the corner of Ponce de Leon and Boulevard for a new “custom-designed” restaurant.

The plot of land sits directly next to the fast food chain’s chicken rival, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reported this week that Chick-fil-A has applied to redevelop the plots of land at 689 Boulevard and 513 Ponce de Leon Ave. The newspaper reports that the company has filed with the city to change the zoning for the parcels.

Currently, the property houses a Texaco gas station.

It would bring the companies behind the viral chicken sandwich wars of 2019 in close quarters. Until 2018, Popeyes was based in Dunwoody before moving its headquarters to Miami.

According to the business blog Tomorrow's News Today, the filings for the new Chick-fil-A location call for a 3,400-square-foot "custom-designed" restaurant. They are asking for the zoning to be changed to allow drive-in and drive-through business on the property.
