Gov. Brian Kemp announced in late April that Georgia restaurants were permitted to reopen their dining rooms on April 27.

Reopened businesses have to follow social distancing guidelines, screen workers for fever and respiratory illnesses, and take other steps to minimize the risk of transmitting the coronavirus. The 39-point list of guidelines was released on April 23.  An updated list of guidelines was released on May 12.

Restaurants throughout the state had been closed for dine-in service since April 3, when Kemp’s shelter-in-place order went into effect. Numerous metro Atlanta restaurants had closed prior to that date.

Kemp's announcement prompted food service operators to evaluate the viability of opening as early as April 27. While some in metro Atlanta have stated that they will not reopen right now, the following eateries announced plans to offer some form of sit-down dining at their facilities.
