The artist who shot the video is surprised by the audience he attracted. Johnnie Lawson shot the footage in what he describes as the “unexplored and peaceful hills” of County Leitrim.
According to the BBC, some of Lawson's nature footage made it into a research project at London-area hospitals, and was used to prevent traumatic stress disorder in intensive care patients.
As Lawson posted more of his nature videos on YouTube, his fan base grew, and the comments were not what he expected.
Insomnia sufferers from around the worl thanked Lawson for helping them get a good night’s sleep.
Lawson told the BBC that his videos have been watched inside the Vatican.
After receiving requests for longer videos, Lawson began creating peaceful nature videos that last over 8 hours, as some people reported waking up in the middle of the night to silence or city noise with videos of shorter duration.
The video featured in this story was first posted to YouTube in 2013, and has generated over 6 million views.
