Big 100 for Greater Piney Grove: The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church will commemorate 100 years with a series of events as the congregation moves into its new sanctuary at 11 a.m. Saturday at 1879 Glenwood Ave., Atlanta. The dedication also will include commissioning for the Frank Jones Memorial Chapel (formerly the old sanctuary). The speaker is the Rev. H. Beecher Hicks Jr. of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. On Sunday, the Rev. Michael Benton, senior pastor of Fairfield Baptist Church in Decatur, will preach at the 7:15 a.m. service, followed by the Rev. William W. Flippin Sr., senior pastor of Greater Piney Grove, at 10:30 a.m. The 100th Anniversary Celebration Gala will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 in the conference center at Georgia Piedmont Technical College, 495 N.
