Opa! This week the annual Atlanta Greek Festival kicks off with four days of music, dancing, food and shopping filling the festival grounds.
Festival Dates: Sept. 28-30, 2018. Traditional Greek meals can be picked up at the Drive Thru on Thursday as well.
Festival Hours: Friday, 5-11 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. Sunday
Location
Greek Orthodox Cathedral (2500 Clairmont Road, NE, Atlanta) is located in Atlanta's Briarcliff Heights neighborhood between I-85 and LaVista Road.
Parking
Forget about trying to park at the festival site. Instead, take advantage of the free parking and shuttle bus service that runs from Century Center Office Park on Clairmont Road just north of I-85 at Clairmont Road.
Taking MARTA
No MARTA rail stations are near the festival site. MARTA bus service is available. Take Route 19 (Clairmont Road) and get off the bus at the Clairmont Road at Council Bluff Drive stop, a very short walk from the festival site.
Traffic Impact
Expect traffic from just south of the festival site on Clairmont to just north of the parking area on the same street to be congested Thursday-Saturday during festival hours.
Food
Not only can you go to the festival and purchase from the wide array of food offerings, you can also get it to go! Available 11 a.m.- 8 p.m. on Thursday-Saturday then 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday, you can order from the special to-go menu and pick-up dinner or lunch at your convenience.
Music
Live Greek music will fill the air throughout the festival with traditional bouzouki keeping crowds entertained. Alpha-Omega Sound will once again headline the event.
For the Kids
Kids ages 12 and younger receive free admission to the festival. In addition to children enjoying the opportunity to try new food and experience a different culture they'll have the opportunity to explore the children's tent with arts & crafts.
Payment Options
Cash and credit cards are accepted for tickets, food and shopping at the festival.
Tickets
Get your tickets in advance online from Freshtix or pay at the gate. Admission is free for children 12 years old and under and $5 for adults. Senior citizens receive free admission on Friday.
Expert Advice
To avoid the crowds, go later in the day on Friday and Saturday. Then, stay late to see the evening dance shows on each of the days. Also, if you love baklava, be sure to leave room for the baklava sundae.
