The newest Marvel comic book heroine will be named Ms. Marvel, and her alter-ego is Kamala Khan.

The New Jersey teenager will discover she can change shapes and uses that power to fight crime.
Marvel editor Sana Amanat admits there will be some pushback, saying “I do expect some negativity.”
And she knows it will come from many areas.
"Not only from people who are anti-Muslim, but people who are Muslim and might want the character portrayed in a particular light.”
The New York Times reports the comic will take into account more than the issues Kamala has to deal with as a crime fighter.
It will also focus on growing up in a Pakistani family in New Jersey.
The character will have to deal with an overprotective mom, an over-expecting father and a strongly conservative brother.
Writer G. Willow Wilson calls it “the universal experience of all American teenagers, feeling kind of isolated and finding what they are.”
