Johnny Depp has turned in his Jack Sparrow dreads for a guitar and he, along with his big-name bandmates, rocked Sunday's Grammy awards.

Depp took the stage with his band Hollywood Vampires, and of all of the musicians on the stage, the actor is probably the lesser known in the music world.

Alice Cooper, Joe Perry from Aerosmith, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum from Guns N' Roses made their television debut during the awards show, E! reported.

They were brought on stage by Foo Fighters' frontman Dave Grohl.

The band kicked off their set with a tribute to Motorhead's lead Lemmy Kilmister with "Ace of Spades."

Grohl called Kilmister, "a rebel, an outsider, one of a kind and a way of life. He was a legend and I was proud to call him my friend."

Hollywood Vampires also premiered their new song "As Bad As I Am."
