1. J.J. Abrams, who directed "Mission: Impossible 3," is at the helm of the latest Star Wars installment, which is technically "Star Wars: Episode VII" for those keeping count.

2. The Hollywood premiere is Monday.

3. The first shows are Thursday, Dec. 17, so be vigilant of spoilers on social media Friday morning.

4. The movie is 128 minutes long (2 hours & 16 minutes), according to Syracuse.com.

5. There are 10 new characters in the latest installment. Some of them are Captain Phasma, General Hux and Maz Kantana. They will be played by Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson and Lupita Nyong'o, respectively.

6. According to Syracuse.com, the plot is believed to be something along the lines of "30 years after the events of 'Return of the Jedi,' where Skywalker had a final showdown with Darth Vader and the rebels blew up the Death Star for good."

8. Once you get your tickets, confirm whether or not costumes are allowed in the theater and what degree of extravagance is permitted. Masks and facepaint are generally no-gos, as are toy weapons.

9. Previous experience with Star Wars films is encouraged but not required.
