A. Star Provisions shared this recipe without a moment’s hesitation. These simple cookies go together quickly and are absolutely addictive to any fan of chocolate and nuts. You can make this recipe your own by substituting other nuts for the walnuts.

Star Provisions’ Chocolate Chip Meringue Cookies
Hands on: 10 minutes
Total time: 55 minutes, plus cooling time
3 extra large egg whites
1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons cocoa
1/3 cup chocolate chips
2/3 cup chopped walnuts
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl with a hand mixer, beat egg whites into stiff peaks, about 4 minutes. With mixer on high, gradually add sugar. Once all sugar has been added, continue beating for 2 minutes.
Sift cocoa on top of egg whites. Add chocolate chips and nuts and gently fold them into the beaten egg whites. Do not fold cocoa completely into meringues. Using a 2 tablespoon scoop, drop mixture onto prepared baking sheet. Bake 45 minutes or until you can slide meringues off parchment using a spatula. Do not attempt to pick up meringues at this stage. They are very fragile. Cool on wire baking sheet and store in an airtight container.
