Nearly 30 years to the day, British singers lent their voices to combat a deadly threat in Africa. Unlike the original recording which targeted famine, this year, Band Aid is raising money to combat Ebola.
Thousands of people in western Africa have died from the virus during the recent epidemic. According to the Centers for Disease Control, there were 14383 cases of Ebola in west Africa with 5165 deaths so far for 2014.
According to the BBC, music producer Bob Geldoff brought together the top British performers like One Direction, Ed Sheeran and Rita Ora to provide vocals. Bono even reprised his role from the original recording, but with slightly rewritten lyrics.
