Gwinnett County's Aurora Theatre is among 12 organizations and individuals honored by Governor Nathan Deal for contributing to Georgia's cultural life.

The Governor's Awards, announced Wednesday, "recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to Georgia's civic and cultural vitality." The awards were presented in partnership with the Georgia Council for the Arts and Georgia Humanities.

It is the fifth annual presentation of the award.

Twelve recipients were chosen from nominations from around the state.
