With airport wi-fi taken down after cyber attack, Hartsfield-Jackson plans diagnostic scans

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is being “abundantly cautious.”

With wi-fi at the world's busiest airport taken down after a cyber attack on the city of Atlanta, Hartsfield-Jackson International officials say they plan to conduct diagnostic scans Saturday.

"Our goal is to conduct diagnostic scans and searches to ascertain the status of the system today," said Hartsfield-Jackson spokesman Andrew Gobeil in a written statement. "Based on those results we will work with the City to determine just when we will restore the free WiFI circuit and internet access for the Department of Aviation."

He added that Hartsfield-Jackson "was not impacted by the ransomware attack, the system was shut down out of an abundance of caution. Airport operations continue as normal."
