Auto sales are forecasted to reach about 17 million in 2017, according to LMC Automotive but that number is down slightly, from 17.5 million record in 2016.

The decrease marks the end of a seven year streak of increasing car sales.

Despite the downturn, Americans are still buying cars and most buyers (97%) research their purchases online before going to the dealership.

In a recent survey of the most Googled cars and trucks in every state, Gold Eagle found that shoppers in Georgia are spending a lot of time looking up Audi's.

The most searched car across the state is the Audi A7.

Only in Colorado did Audi also rank as the most searched brand of car with the Audi AllRoad.

The most states search for a Buick Enclave which was tops in eight states. Various models of Subarus were also popular in online searches across six states.

Only in Washington and California did residents do more searches on hybrid/electric vehicles.

And when it comes to size of the vehicle, it generally follows the state -- the bigger the state, the bigger the cars searched.
