Gene Wilder had a way with a certain type of character.
He turned an eccentric candyman and a mad scientist into some of the most memorable roles moviegoers have seen.
Wilder died last month at age 83 of complications from Alzheimer's disease , but this week, fans of the actor/comedian can enjoy a full day screening featuring four of his classic films.
On Sept. 18 at Lefont Sandy Springs, the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival (AJFF) remembers Wilder with a retrospective beginning at noon with The Frisco Kid .
The film will be followed by Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (complete with complimentary Everlasting Gobstoppers) at 2:45 p.m., Blazing Saddles at 5:10 p.m., and The Producers at 7:30 p.m..
“Gene Wilder left an indelible impact on Jewish cinema and the entertainment world,” says AJFF Executive Director Kenny Blank in a statement. “We remember his comic genius by bringing back some favorite Gene Wilder films as they were meant to be experienced: on the big screen, and with the joy and laughter that can only come from watching a movie with an audience.”
