AM 750 and now 95.5 FM News/Talk WSB pulled in a record $1.43 million in pledges in its Care-a-Thon last week for Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
The radio station raised about $8.4 million the previous nine years for the charity. The station has reached $1 million in pledges every year since 2005.
This 37-hour marathon broadcast featured stories of hope and inspiration from Aflac Cancer Center patients, families and staff with the help of hosts Scott Slade, Neal Boortz and Clark Howard.
Of all radio station marathons nowadays in Atlanta, the station pulls in the most cash for its designated charity.

The Aflac Cancer Center treats more than 350 new cancer patients each year, has over 22,000 visits to its outpatient facilities each year and follows over 2,000 children with sickle cell disease, hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. Directed by pediatric hematologists/oncologists, our multidisciplinary team is able to offer children and families the emotional, physical and spiritual support they need during their treatment journey. Through child-friendly equipment, programs and facilities, we care for children from infancy to young adulthood.
