VH1's Atlanta-based "Single Ladies" renewed for second season

Just a few days after MTV's "Teen Wolf" was renewed for a second season, another Atlanta-based scripted show "Single Ladies" on VH1 gets the same nod.

"Single Ladies" has shown impressively consistent ratings since its debut May 30, drawing 1.8 million to 1.9 million every week.  For VH1, which has struggled to come up with a big shows since the days of "Flavor of Love," those are hit numbers.

According to Variety magazine, the show will be back in Atlanta later this year, with season 2 slated for 2012.

The show stars Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy and Charity Shea as single ladies in Atlanta.

"It's a hard thing to get television right and have a successful television show," said Alex Motlagh, one of the executive producers. "It's really exciting. We're grateful and happy it's received the reaction it has had from the audience and promotes Atlanta as well. We're stoked."

This was VH1's first attempt at a scripted one-hour drama.

The number of scripted TV shows shot in Atlanta keeps on growing. Right now, the tally includes:

VH1: "Single Ladies"

MTV: "Teen Wolf"

TBS: "Tyler Perry's House of Payne," upcoming "For Better Or Worse"

BET: "Let's Stay Together," "The Game," upcoming "Reed Between the Lines"

AMC: "The Walking Dead"

USA: "Necessary Roughness"

The CW: "Vampire Diaries"

Lifetime: "Drop Dead Diva"
