Q100's Bert Show regular Jenn Hobby announced this morning that she's pregnant with her first child.

Hobby, 35, married principal Grant Rivera , 37, in November 2010 and said on air that they began trying to have a baby from the get go.

“I was honest off the bat with him that I wanted kids and he was on board,” Hobby said in an interview after the show.

After going the regular route, they went to a fertility specialist Dr. Mark Perloe and discovered she had a cervix problem. Once that  issue was fixed, she was able to get pregnant and is due April 18, 2013.

She told listeners who are having trouble getting pregnant that she understands how they feel. “I can speak your language,” she said. “I know there are a few people who are sad about it. It’s admittedly hard to hear when others get pregnant so easily. You’re not alone. Keep trying.”

Hobby, who has been with the Bert Show for a decade, said it was difficult to keep the baby a secret from her radio family “They were the last of my closest friends to know,” she said. “I was trying to be a good radio show member and deliver the good news on the air. I can’t believe it worked.”

She said nobody said anything to her to convey they were suspicious. “I became a social recluse lately,” she said. “I didn’t want people watching me like a hawk, to have to get a club soda with lime so nobody thinks you’re not drinking.”

She even went up a side entrance when going to the fertility specialist, afraid someone might see her and Tweet about it. “I felt like a diva like Mariah Carey or something,” she said. “We were just very cautious.”

So far, Hobby said, she has never felt this much fatigue in her life. And she’s had that hyper-sensitive nose. But while she has felt nauseous, she hasn’t actually thrown up much.

This is Hobby's second marriage. She divorced Sister Hazel's Ryan Newell in 2008.
