Atlanta police need your help.

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, Atlanta police said a person of interest in a robbery at the SunTrust bank at 740 West Peachtree St. was detained .

Just after 2 p.m., Sgt. Greg Lyon said that was a mistake and released surveillance images of the man.

Lyon said the man walked into the SunTrust before noon and presented a demand note.

"He made off with an undetermined amount of money and changed clothes in the bushes after leaving the scene," he said.

The search for the man extended all the way to the Lenox MARTA station. Followers of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Twitter account reported lots of police activity in the area and helicopters overhead.

At the time, Lyon told The AJC someone was “on foot around the Lenox Mall area. Possibly the MARTA station.”

MARTA spokeswoman Saba Long said service was temporarily interrupted at the MARTA station while Atlanta police searched for the man.

“They held the train to see if the individual was on the train,” she said.

Service is back to normal, Long said.
