Locally filmed "Goosebumps," based on the creepy-clever series of young adult books by R.L. Stine, comes out Oct. 16, just in time for Halloween. The fun, funny and not-too-scary movie stars Jack Black as the author, and it stars Madison, Ga., as the fictitious town of Madison, Del.

Director Rob Letterman, who was back in Atlanta this week for an advance screening of the movie, has worked with Black a number of times now. He was a writer on the animated "Shark Tale," for which Black was a voice actor, and directed him in "Gulliver's Travels."

“I love him,” Letterman said.

Look for a more in-depth article about the movie between now and its opening date, but how about a little inside scoop for now?

Black enjoyed his downtime during the filming, popping up at local spots such as Bone Lick BBQ, where he posed for this great picture with owner and pitmaster Mike LaSage.

His fitness routine: walking almost everywhere. The crew would dine in Buckhead, and Black would announce he was walking back to their Midtown accommodations.

“He’s great,” said Letterman, who made sure someone always accompanied his star lest he get turned around on the wrong Peachtree. “I love him.”
