Updates on the Caring Bridge site established to inform supporters about his condition have indicated that his surgery went well. On Monday, an S&S representative said he's now back in Atlanta and continuing recovery at an area hospital.

The community's love for Garland and his family is reflected in the many messages offering prayer and support.

"You have SO many people lifting you up to God for healing," one friend wrote.

Added another, "I am praying for a complete and speedy recovery for you, Jimmy, and peace and wisdom for your family. You still have work to do, God has something special for you."
