"This is what I think of the New York Times editorial today," posted Erickson. "The United States suffered its worst terrorist attacks since September 11 and the New York Times’ response is that all law-abiding citizens need their guns taken away. Screw them. The New York Times wants you to be sitting ducks for a bunch of arms jihadists who the New York Times thinks no doubt got that way because of the United States."

The image, with nearly 2,000 likes, more than Facebook 1,000 comments and more than 800 shares, is now trending. Erickson urged others to use the Times for target practice and to share the resulting photos.

The Times' editorial is enjoying far more social-media support, with 43,000 likes, more than 3,000 comments and 15,000 shares.
"It is past time to stop talking about halting the spread of firearms, and instead to reduce their number drastically — eliminating some large categories of weapons and ammunition," read the editorial - the first opinion piece to run on the Times' front page since 1920. "It is not necessary to debate the peculiar wording of the Second Amendment. No right is unlimited and immune from reasonable regulation."
