Following the "Hamilton" dustup that trended on social media over the weekend, Vice President-elect Mike Pence has sought to strike a calm note of reassurance while his boss rants on Twitter.

"I wasn't offended by what was said," Pence said on CBS' "Face the Nation" after the audience at a "Hamilton" performance booed him and the cast addressed him directly. "I want to assure people who were disappointed by the election results. People are feeling anxious about this time in the life of our nation. President-elect Donald Trump meant exactly what he said on election night: he is going to be the president of all the people of the United States of America."
Trump, on the other hand, has blasted the Tony, Pulitzer and Grammy-winning "Hamilton," which is sold out at least through next August, as "overrated" and has demanded an apology. Trump also lashed out at "Saturday Night Live" after Alec Baldwin was back in character on Saturday, and has blasted the "failing" New York Times after reading coverage of himself and disapproving.
Pence has struck a far more statesman-like chord.
“He’s got a heart for the American people," he said. "I want to reassure anyone, including the actor who spoke that night, that president-elect Donald Trump is going to be president of all the people, and I couldn’t be more honored to stand with him."
