The fourth of five SXSW Interactive Keynote speakers was announced Wednesday. Kevin Plank, the chief executive of Under Armour will speak Monday, March 14.
In 2013, Under Armour purchased Austin's MapMyFitness for $150 million and it has since been acquiring fitness tech companies such as Endomondo and MyFitnessPal. The moves have helped Under Armour go from a company primarily known for sweat-thirsty fitness wear to one that is rapidly gaining muscle in wearable technology.
Earlier this week, SXSW announced about two dozen more featured speakers for the fest including filmmaker J.J. Abrams, actress Geena Davis and the Bushnell family.
Plank joins other previously announced keynote speakers including author and researcher Brené Brown, Casey Gerald, CEO of MBAs Across America and Andy Puddicombe of Headspace.
Also in SXSW stuff, Addie Broyles just posted a great roundup of the food-related content at SXSW Interactive and SouthBites this year. Check it out.
