This week's Digital Savant column is a roundup of Christmas- or holiday-related stuff to see and do online this week, from Santa trackers (where is he!? Where could he BE, y'all!?!) to the Salt Lick BBQ Y'all Log (this is a real thing) to streaming video stuff.

No, I don’t want you go spend your holiday time with your nose pointed at your smart phone screen or in front of an HDTV as a way of avoiding people. But the beauty of this list is that a lot of these things you can share with family and have a laugh or a conversation. (Any attempts to use the online streaming video section as a means to “Netflix and chill,” I absolutely cannot be held responsible for.)

Here’s an excerpt from the column, which runs in Tuesday’s print edition of the American-Statesman:

In Austin, one of the best new ones this year is from recently acquired HomeAway, which has created reroutesanta.com, a site that will get the message to Santa that you may not be home for Christmas, lest those North Pole gifts get lost. It's cute, it's simple, and to promote it, the company is giving away a $500 vacation prize for someone who shares a Facebook, Instagram or Twitter photo of where Santa can find them with the hashtag #RerouteSanta. The deadline for that is Monday.

GSD&M usually has a holiday display or online web app to delight. This year, some of its employees got a little naughty, creating a product called "Overconfident Wrapping Paper." It sells for $20 on Etsy with all profits donated to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians and includes phrases such as, "Let's stop with the foreplay & get down to business" and "Grab a mop because you're about to wet yourself." The third one we can't print here, but if you're curious, visit etsy.com/shop/OCwrappingpaper.

You can read the rest of the column on MyStatesman.com. Got other can't-miss online offerings people should check out from now till New Year's? Let me know by posting a comment!
