There are a few situations when couponing can go wrong during checking out.

No one wants to feel embarrassed or hold up a line. Here are 3 quick ways to resolve couponing issues at the register:

Organize your Shopping Trip: As you create your meal planning list of what you will purchase when you go to the grocery store, make sure you locate and carry the coupon that you need for each item. You can even make a little note as to how many items to get and how many coupons you have on your list. This way you will be more organized and when you go to check out, all you have to do is place all of the coupons together to hand to the cashier.

Find the right cashier: Before you checkout, scan the cashiers to see if there is one who appears friendly, easy to talk to, or experienced with coupons. Since I have been couponing, I am very familiar with the cashiers who are friendly to couponers in my area and with the stores that I visit often. It does help new couponers to get to know your cashiers especially if you misread the coupon and have the wrong item.

Limit the distractions: I leave my children at home when I go out to grocery shopping. Sometimes babies, children or even spouses may be a slight distraction especially if they are in a hurry! If you must take them with you, be sure to have snacks for when they are hungry. Consider sending them on a scavenger hunt to look for coupons that can be used on items they may want to purchase at the next grocery visit.
