Metro Atlanta reached its frostiest temps so far this winter, Sunday continued to be cold and breezy.

Sunday morning ushered in the coldest weather since February, said Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.

. “We’ll be sunny and cold through Sunday, with still a bit of a breeze,” he added.

Monday morning will be cold, with temperatures again in the 20s, according to Nitz.

Winds blew 10 to 15 mph with occasionally stronger gusts, and highs reaching the upper 40s by Sunday afternoon.

“But back to the mid-50s later in the day New Year’s Eve Day with a 30-percent chance of showers,” Nitz said. “Much better rain chances hold off until New Year’s Day.”

With temperatures starting to dip below freezing, property owners are reminded to turn off outdoor irrigation systems and protect water pipes from freezing.
