After nearly a dozen tornadoes ravaged Dallas and Collin counties, two dogs buried in the rubble of a home were pulled to safety Monday -- two days after the home was destroyed on top of them.
A woman and her husband were lucky to survive with just minor injuries after families went to their home after a tornado flattened it and pulled them from the debris, a cousin, Gina Berkshier, told NBCDFW.com.
Two days later, family members went back to the rubble of the home and heard one of the family's two dogs. Sawyer was rescued after 20 minutes of digging into the debris.
Miraculously, four hours later, a chihuahua named Lucy was also pulled from the rubble. Neither dog had broken bones, but Sawyer was being monitored at a veterinary facility for swelling.
