Springtime weather is back.
Temperatures will climb into the low 80s, and metro Atlanta will remain warm and dry through Wednesday. High pressure is keeping at bay a weather system that soaked parts of Texas in flood waters this week.
Temperatures were 81 degrees in Atlanta, 78 degrees in Blairsville and 82 degrees in Griffin just after 5 p.m.
The increase in Atlanta temps is 10 degrees above the average high for this day, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said.
Conditions will remain dry and warm through Wednesday, leaving the metro area at risk for high fire danger.
Dry weather will linger until a weather system brings clouds, then rain to the region.
There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night, and that chance increases to 60 percent Friday.
The pollen count, which had been dropping this week, increased to 670 particles of pollen per cubic meter of air Tuesday. That was well below the current season high of 4,107 and last year's season high of 6,152.
