Atlanta United announced the signing of Jeffrey Otoo on Wednesday.

Otoo is an 18-year-old left-footed forward from Ghana. He has scored 21 goals in 13 games playing for Charity Stars FC, a Division 2 squad, since Dec. 2015. In a few weeks he will go on loan with Atlanta United’s USL affiliate, Charleson.

“Jeffrey is a talented young player who we identified through our international scouting network,” Atlanta United technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a statement provided by the team. “We really like Jeffrey’s natural technical ability and unselfish style of play. We’re excited to watch him develop.”

Otoo was included in a list of salaries published by the MLS player's union on May 15. Other than his salary ($51,504) internet searches and queries turned up next to nothing on Otoo, other than he played in Ghana.

He is the third player signed by the expansion club, joining goalkeeper Alex Tambakis, who is also on loan at Charleston, and midfielder Junior Burgos, who is on loan at Tampa Bay in the NASL.

Atlanta United will begin play in MLS in 2017. Its headquarters, which will house the front office, first team and academy, is under construction in Marietta.
