Social media users defend gymnast Alexa Moreno after she's body-shamed

Mexican gymnast Alexa Moreno competed in the Rio Olympics this week and, despite the feat of being an Olympic athlete, some decided to criticize her appearance.

Fusion reported that the body-shaming of the 22-year-old gymnast led others to combat the negativity with praise of Moreno.

Some Twitter users responded with general positivity and support for Moreno, who placed 31st.

Others responded to body shamers by simply stating that those slamming Moreno's appearance can't do what she can -- compete as an Olympic gymnast.
