Dylan Fromm, a quarterback from Warner Robins High School and a younger brother of Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm, will continue his football career at Mercer. He attended the Touchdown Club of Atlanta award ceremony Thursday and spoke with members of the media about his decision to continue playing football at Mercer.

Q: What went into your decision to commit to Mercer, and when did you make that final decision?

A: You know honestly from Day 1, Mercer has been the place for me. I've loved it and always been a fan growing up. When you think about what Mercer brings academically and the value you have with the degree that they give after, it really was a no-brainer. I made my decision over the summer right before my senior year.

Q: With Jake being at Georgia, watching him succeed at quarterback, what have you learned from watching him play in a collegiate role that you want to take with you?

A: As far as the game goes mentally, almost everything I know about football he's been there teaching me every step of the way. So I think knowing the game mentally is probably one the biggest takeaways I can get. I think it's something that we can bond over.

Q: What advice has he given you when you decided and throughout this year?

A: I can't really pinpoint just about anything, but just about being a leader, making sure I'm keeping my morals in check and playing the best I can.

Q: Jake’s had success from the get-go. Have you ever felt like you were playing under his shadow? Do you think you’ll be able to step out and be your own person and develop your own image for yourself?

A: You know I've never felt like I was playing under anyone's shadow. I think we are two very different quarterbacks. We're brothers and we love each other, so it's never kind of felt that way for me. I don't think anyone has really treated me that way, so it's been good.

Q: With Tyler, your other brother, going to Auburn, what’s that been like with you each picking your own school?

A: That's the first time Tyler and I have been apart, because we are twins, the first time we've been apart in 18 years of life. It's different, but he loves it at Auburn, I love it at Mercer, and obviously Jake is having a good time up there at Georgia. It's been great, and we are making sure we are staying in touch.

Q: What are you looking forward to going into this fall season?

A: I'm just trying to make an impact as early as I can. There is nothing really that I can expect out of this year other than that, just try to make an impact on my team.

Q: Was there ever a point in high school that you knew you wanted to play in college? Or was that kind of always something you had in mind from a young age?

A: You know you grow up watching college football and watching NFL football, so you always want to play at the next level. But I guess the older you get, you get to high school and you're like, what's important to me? The scholarship, the offer, the degree that you are going to get at the college. I mean I guess when you get to high school you have to make big time decisions and I think that's when it kind of hit me I wanted to play college football.

Q: Was there a year, like freshman or sophomore year, where you realized this is going to be a reality and not necessarily just a dream anymore?

A: It was actually pretty stressful my first two years playing under Jake, and I hadn't proved anything yet. And I'm like I still have to go out there and play really well and make a name for myself, hopefully get some scholarship offers. My junior year when I got a few after the season, that was when like yeah this is it, this is awesome, this is it.

Q: Was there ever a moment in high school that stands out to you that is the epitome of your high school career that sealed the deal for you to want to play in college?

A: I think any big game that we had, really. Both of our (games against Northside-Warner Robins), Rome my senior year, Peach County my junior year, any of the big-time games. Really you can take any game, playing with some of your best friends. Football is the greatest sport in the world, so any of them, it's just awesome.
