Sun Belt hoops tourneys not coming to Gwinnett

The Sun Belt Conference announced on Tuesday that it will hold its men's and women's basketball tournaments in New Orleans from 2014-16. The tournaments will be played at Lakefront Arena.

The Gwinnett Arena was one of the sites the conference was considering. Sun Belt commissioner Karl Benson toured the Gwinnett Arena in September. Georgia State will become a full member of the conference this summer.

Orlando, Nashville, Memphis and Birmingham were also considered.

The tournament is contracted to play in Hot Springs, Ark. through the 2013-14 season, but both parties agreed to end the contract after this year's event.
