As spring practice closes, Georgia Tech players and coaches received lasting mementoes of their historic 2014 season – rings.

The jewelry commemorating the Orange Bowl championship season was presented to players in the equipment room following Wednesday’s practice. It was a well-received surprise, as players took to Twitter to show off their new hardware.

Quarterback Tim Byerly, who took over the @GTStudents account representing the student body, tweeted, “We finally got our Orange Bowl Rings!! Just as much yours as they are ours. Thx for the support all year Jacket fam!!”

The silver rings read “Orange Bowl Champions” on the face. One shank includes the team member’s last name, the Jackets’ 11-3 record and an outline of the state of Georgia inscribed with “State Champs,” referencing Tech’s overtime victory over Georgia in November.

The other shank is inscribed with “2014 ACC Coastal Champions,” the Orange Bowl logo and “# 7,” the team’s ranking in the final USA Today coaches poll.
