Georgia State has hired Tim Lappano as wide receivers coach.

Lappano formerly coached the same position for the Detroit Lions last year. Before coaching wide receivers, he coached Detroit’s tight ends for four years.

He will replace Keary Colbert, who resigned to take an assistant coaching position at Alabama.

Lappano and Georgia State coach Trent Miles know each other from the University of Washington, where Lappano was offensive coordinator from 2005-08. Miles coach running backs there from 2005-07.
