What they said after the Hawks 107-77 drubbing at the hands of the Bucks Friday:
Mike Budenholzer
Opening statement: "I think you have to give Milwaukee a lot of credit. They played really well tonight. They did a lot of things, shot the ball well, different guys. We've got to do things better defensively to make it hard on them offensively. We obviously didn't have a good night for us offensively. Just overall, there are a lot of areas where we can improve and get better. We get to see them tomorrow night and see if we can correct and play better."
On changes to defense for Saturday rematch: "We'll look at the film and we'll discuss and talk about it. I think mostly it's we need to do what we do better but there may be opportunities to make adjustments or do things differently. But I don't think that is going to make the difference. We just have to play a lot better."
On 23 turnovers: "Turnovers and when we did get a shot we didn't shoot it well. I think that is a credit to their defense, particularly the turnovers but also a poor shooting percentage too. I think their defense and their activity was good. We are going to have to take care of the ball better. We are going to have to be more aggressive. We are going to have to be stronger. But I think those are all things we are capable of doing."
On two off days breaking roll: "No. I think we had two days off in the last week or two and we responded to it in a good way. I think some nights, like I said, Milwaukee played very well and we need to play much better."
On Adreian Payne debut: "I think Adriean has been working hard. His length and his activity, his ability to do things around the basket and to step away from the basket. I think he go an offensive rebound early. His length and his athleticism and his activity are going to be something that is going to be able to help us."
Jeff Teague
On combating Bucks offense: "We just played bad."
On reason for poor play: "We just didn't have a good game."
On turnovers: "We had a couple days off and we weren't sharp. It happens."
On putting loss behind with rematch Saturday: "It's already behind us. I think guys are ready to play right now."
Kyle Korver
On loss: "Every once in a while you have stinkers and it was one for us. We weren't very sharp. We didn't play with much pace. They really switched the game up on us with their lineups and what they were doing. We just never really adjusted to it that well. But I think a lot of it was mental for us. We just weren't very sharp."
On rematch: "We didn't do anything particularly well. So there is a lot of room for improvement. But they beat us by 30 points so we are going to have to go there and do our job."
On Bucks offense: "They were smaller a lot of the night. … It just felt like nothing we were doing was working very well."
Al Horford
On Bucks offense: "That gave us some trouble but you have to give them credit. I think they just executed their game plan a lot better. On the offensive end, I felt like we weren't moving the ball well enough. We were trying to do a lot of one-on-one stuff. We've been all year about team. The good thing is we get to play them tomorrow. I know we'll do a better job."
On being a good thing with a quick rematch: "Yeah, totally. If we would have lost this like this and not played or played another team, yeah you can go out. But the chance we get to play them will be good."
On whether two-day layoff affected play: "Oh yeah, that goes hand in hand. We gave them a lot of transition points. It goes back to at times trying to play one-on-one. I'm sure we will address it tomorrow and we'll be better."
On poor shooting: "That doesn't happen very often. More important than anything, we just have to make sure we do a good job on defense. They hit some tough shots. They made shots. We just have to have more of a presence tomorrow."
DeMarre Carroll
On loss: "You just have to chalk it up. We came out flat. Balls were half way down in the goals and came out. It was just one of those games. We didn't shoot the ball good and our defense wasn't that good. Coming back off the holidays, we've just got to flush it and come back tomorrow."
On 23 turnovers: "I think we were looking for calls too much and doing lackadaisical passes. We just got to flush it. The beauty of it is we play them again tomorrow. We know what we should have done. A lot of us are licking at the chops to get back at it tomorrow."
Adreian Payne
On NBA debut: "It felt good to be able to get in the game."
On whether time in Austin helped: "It helped a lot playing in Austin and being able to come out and play with my teammates. Too bad it didn't end the way we wanted it to end."
